Cooperative Education. Faculty involved in cooperative education, including the supervision of students, shall be provided with appropriate release time from assigned duties, as agreed in consultation with the employee(s), Coordinator of Cooperative Education, Department Chair and Xxxx or designate.
Cooperative Education. “Cooperative education” shall mean that mode of instruction in which a student is assigned work at an institution or agency with which the University has established programs of work-related studies and pursuant to which the regular direct supervision of such student is the responsibility of someone other than a faculty member. The responsibility of any faculty member with respect to cooperative education shall be confined to preliminary, periodic and final conferences with the student and his/her regular supervisor for the purpose of evaluating the student’s work and educational experience in accordance with the established guidelines of the cooperative education program at the University.

All teacher-coordinators for Cooperative Educa- tion programs are required to have a valid Illinois Career and Technical Education educator license, 6 semester hours in Administration and Organization of cooperative education, and 2,000 hours of paid work experience. Special needs teacher-coordinators of Coopera- tive Education programs such as Work Experience and Career Exploration program (WECEP), Early School Leaver, and Secondary Transition Education Program (STEP) shall have a valid Illinois educator certificate, 6 semester hours in Administration and Organization of cooperative education, and 2,000 hours of paid work experience. Credentials for all Cooperative Education teachers will be reviewed and approved by the Career and Technical Education in accordance with rules set by the Illinois State Board of Education as outlined in the State of Illinois Cooperative Education Hand- book dated June 2009.

Cooperative Education. The workload for a 100 percent assignment in the cooperative education program is 5 defined as sixty (60) students for work experience and is in Category A for overload purposes. The workload 6 for co-op seminar will be Category A. the same as the predominant category for the discipline or program in 7 Appendix H. Cooperative education includes those programs with activities defined as community based 8 community-based learning and includes work-based learning, internships or practicums; the same workload 9 guide- lines apply. 11 The typical minimum responsibilities for cooperative education include advising and selecting students, 12 placing students in work experience sites, improving student adjustment to the work environment, improving 13 on the job training, coordinating classroom instruction with on the job training, assisting students with 14 personal adjustments, promoting the program among employers and students, and contacting each student in 15 both seminars or conferences and supervised work experience.
Cooperative Education. A Faculty Member teaching cooperative work experience or internship academy will be paid based on five (5) students per lecture hour equivalency (.20 LHE/student), at the overload rate, with a maximum rate at step 6, scale IV, rounded up to the nearest dollar. Cooperative Education. The term ‘‘cooperative education’’ means a method of education for individuals who, through written cooperative arrangements between a school and employers, receive instruction, including required rigorous and challenging academic courses and related career and technical education instruction, by alternation of study in school with a job in any occupational field, which alternation—
(A) shall be planned and supervised by the school and employer so that each contributes to the education and employability of the individual; and
(B) may include an arrangement in which work periods and school attendance may be on alternate half days, full days, weeks, or other periods of time in fulfilling the cooperative program.

v) For Teachers assigned a full day core assignment to teach the full day student Co-operative Education program, on-calls/supervisions may be replaced with student mentoring, with prior approval of the Teacher.
